Overcoming Fear of Public Speaking

When you are asked to deliver a Presentation or to Speak in Public, a lot of people become anxious. This BLOG will help you overcome the fear!

You often hear – “You must Prepare” – I say:

“PREPARE! PREPARE! PREPARE!”

In order to prepare properly, a terrific method is to do a “MIND MAP”.

Usually people who deliver presentations and speak in public, have enough Information and knowledge to do so. Remember, knowledge and information is a conundrum – it is like a cement mixer with concrete in it – it goes round and round and round with no structure.

To decipher the Knowledge and identify what you want to say you must decide on a structure – MIND MAPPING is a great solution and it is very simple to do.

Get a sheet of paper and identify what topic you wish to talk about. Put the title of the topic in the centre of the page and put a circle around it.

Then write fast for 5 minutes – WITHOUT thinking! – all the Information is in your subconscious and you will find that lots of ideas will start to appear on your page. You don’t have to be neat or tidy, just write!

After the 5 minutes is up, look at what you have written and identify 3 or 4 of the main ideas that you wish to convey to your audience.
